The Noda Plant of Megmilk Snow Brand Co., Ltd. is one of the largest automated factories in Japan producing milk, yogurt, juice and others. Recently, it introduced an entry control system with facial authentication and easy registration at the entrance to the plant for tighter security. This system is characterized by the fact that the facial images necessary for entry can be easily registered. When a visitor touches a special entry card on the reader, the system instantly takes a photo of his or her face. The visitor is then prompted to choose from one of the multiple images displayed on the touchscreen panel. Registration is thus easily completed. Use of facial images as keys helps block unauthorized entry and identify entering persons to increase the level of security. The system has been well-received for improving morals because the system requires visitors themselves to do the registration.
